Annual Golf Outing 2012
CIARB Irish Branch Annual Golf Outing 2012
Friday 22nd June 2012
The CIArb Irish Branch’s 7th Annual Four Ball Mexican Scramble for the Dan McCrystal solid silver perpetual trophy took place on Friday 22nd June 2012 back on the championship course in Powerscourt Golf club. The course was immaculate despite the windy conditions and intermittent down pours. This didn’t stop the fierce competition with only 0.1 of a shot separating 1st and 2nd place.
If I ever have a chance to meet Walker Cup Captain Peter McEvoy who designed the East Course at Powerscourt, I would have to ask him how on earth he managed to design 18 tee boxes where all drives are directly into the wind!
We had a tremendous turnout of over 40 golfers with teams entered by:
John Farage O’Brien [Dispute Resolution & Legal Support Consultants]
Maples & Calder [Solicitors]
Hussey Fraser [Solicitors]
Jim Halley [2012/13 Chairman of the Branch]
Ciaran Fahy [Former Chairman of the Branch]
Coastway [Chartered Geospatial Engineers]
Quigg Golden [Dispute Resolution Consultants]
Davis Langdon [Global Construction Consultants]
CIArb Members Team
I would like to thank everyone who supported the competition this year, which is a key event on the CIArb Irish branch social calendar.
The Results were as follows:
Winners: Coastway with a team score of 61.6 strokes
Mark Hudson off 15
Enda Nolan off 21
Fergus Burke off 20
Peter Walsh off 18
Runners Up: Quigg Golden with a team score of 61.7 strokes
Jarleth Kearney off 10
John McCambridge off 15
Joe McGewon off 17
3rd Place: Jim Hally Team
Jim Halley off 19
Pat Halley off 12
John McSorley off 12
Longest Drive*: Fergus Burke
Nearest the Pin: Fergus Burke
* Although Fergus hit an almighty drive into a Gale on the designated 10th I have to mention my guest Mr. Kieran O’Brien of Ferrovial Agroman Ireland drove the green on the Par 4 7th hole a massive 360+yrd drive! [With the wind behind him!] But well done to both Fergus & Kieran.
The prizes were presented by Mr. Jim Halley in his first official outing as the new Branch Chairman, but when it came to receiving his own prize, Mr. Joe Behan former Branch Chairman and more recently former World President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators kindly stepped up to the mark to present Jim and his team with their trophies.
My sincere thanks to all those who participated and supported the event this year and I look forward to seeing you all during the year and indeed at next years annual golf event. Coastway simply cannot win a fourth year in a row [ Well done guys!]
